2 Days In Dublin

If you’ve been scouring the web for your next weekend trip and Dublin is standing out to you, you won’t be disappointed. There is a great deal on offer, both during the day and evening, whether it’s raining or sunny.

The only potential problem you might run into is trying to fit everything into a 48-hour window, and ultimately, it isn’t feasible.

As a proud Dublin bar & establishment, we have laid out an itinerary that you could follow to get the most out of your couple of days here.

The Liffey

You can kick your weekend off in Dublin with a stroll down the Liffey; Ireland’s largest river flows right through the heart of the capital, and (provided the clouds are at bay) gives you the chance to get some fresh air with picturesque views, without having to trek far away from everything else you want to see.

Christ Church Cathedral

Some Dublin shops and businesses have come and gone, while others are still standing and have been for centuries.

One thing that has stood firm in the city for close to 1000 years is Christ Church Cathedral, a fantastic, but often overlooked, tourist spot worth taking in during a weekend Dublin trip.

Built by Vikings, it offers an insight into Dublin’s Norse roots, and has hosted medieval kings and nobles over the centuries. Around 300 years ago, the church started to show signs of age, but was renovated to prolong its time as a staple and point of pride for so many Dubliners.

It’s around 25 minutes from the city centre and is based very close to the Liffey, which means you could merge our last suggestion with this one, saving time while seeing two big Dublin attractions.

Trinity College & The Book of Kells

Another central itinerary item we recommend is Trinity College Dublin, arguably our most famous landmark, which dates all the way back to 1592. Are cobbled squares and iconic buildings your thing? This is a fantastic place to check out.

While you’re there, step inside to see the Book of Kells, a richly decorated manuscript created by Celtic monks. It is housed in the stunning Long Room library and offers a quick but memorable way to take in a piece of Ireland’s history, perfect for a weekend stay.

O’Connell Street

Good chance you end up walking down here anyway, but when you wander down O’Connell Street, try and really soak it up and take in where you are.

O’Connell Street is Dublin’s main thoroughfare, lined with historic buildings, statues, and shops. It’s great to visit for its central location, lively atmosphere, and landmarks like the General Post Office, a key site in Irish history.

One of Europe’s widest streets, it’s good for those who swerve narrow town centre roads; you can move at your own pace, despite being in one of the busiest parts of the whole of Ireland.

It’s a great place to grab a quick snack or drink, as well, making it worth seeing and convenient simultaneously.
